This sample program uses an Excel Macro to set the 34970A for 2 simple scans that make both DCV and type J thermocouple temperature measurements.

Date: September 20, 2004
Version: 1.0.0.0
Language: Microsoft® Excel Macro language
Operating System: Windows® 98, 95, NT® 4.0, 2000, or XP
VISA Version: Use Agilent I/O Library version M.01.01.04 or above

This sample program uses an Excel Macro to set the 34970A for 2 simple scans that make both DCV and type J thermocouple temperature measurements. The program also checks the instrument and module identification to make sure there is communication between the 34970A and the computer, and the correct module is installed. The returned data is entered into a worksheet.

This program uses the Agilent 3494A control to program the instrument. The control is supplied by the Agt3494ALib.ocx file that comes with the IntuiLink for Multimeter software. The control must be added to the worksheet for the program to operate. To view and change the control properties, do the following:
select View>Toolbars>Control Toolbox to view the Control Toolbox
click on the "Design Mode" icon on the Control Toolbox to view the control
select the "Agilent 3494A General Purpose I/O Control"
click on the "Properties" icon on the Control Toolbox to view the properties and make any necessary changes, like address, etc. in the properties box. The control is set for GPIB operation using address of "9"; make the address changes according to your 34970A.
