What is the reason, why 8902A Tuned-RF level performance test using 30MHz
test frequency and not 50MHz? We have also N5531S system and there same
test using 50MHz. Does it couse a big measurement error if 8902A Tuned-RF
level test will be run also at 50MHz?
I believe that this is a traditional frequency for reference attenuators that were calibrated using the IF substitution method that is being used to test or verify the specification of the reference steps in the 8902A.
I suspect that you can use any other frequency as it is converted to the 8902A IF frequency and you are then comparing the 8902IF reported step to the reference expected step.
The whole process is assuming the liniarity of teh 1st mixer and the frequency of test should not matter, as long as you have the actual calibration steps at the test frequency.

Thanks a lot. Actualy i thought totally same way. Step attenautor is calibrated in 50MHz. I have already tested to run 8902A Tuned RF-level test using 50MHz and it works perfectly. Using repeatable step attanuator i can monitor our cal lab's 8902A, N5531S and 8510C VNA's levelig accuracy together....50MHz fits also to 8510C's frequency range
