I need your help with Agilent's B4610A Import Tool and Signal Extractor B4602A with a link to VSA software?
Here is what I'm after:
I would like to import a file into the offline LA application, extract a dataset with the waveform extractor software and export that to VSA for analysis. I have noticed the offline link to VSA is only possible via a live acquisition, a previously saved acquisition file *.ala or according to the literature with application B4602A "Signal Extractor".
Will it work the same with *.alb files and B4602A?
If I import a previously saved *.csv or *.alb the data is entered into a data import module from which the option exists to add a signal extractor tool, SerDes, etc. Does this imply that none of my licensed tools can be used with imported files?
Customer understand that B4602A Signal Extractor (within a logic analyzer) provides reformatted IQ signal for VSA (89601A/B), and B4610A Data Import Tool can import data from logic analyzer for post analysis. His question is: Can he put the data files (created by B4610A or other tool with appropriate format) back to the logic analyzer which has B4602A, and let the B4602A create reformatted IQ signal for VSA for post analysis? "
Got a reply from Grant Suter, Application Engineer at Agilent under case number: 3940022272. I have attached the picture showing the setup.
"One typical scenario is that the logic analyzer directly captures parallel, digital data. In this case the raw data comes in through the logic analyzer probes and is then converted to IQ values within the B4602A Signal Extractor software. The reformatted IQ values are then passed over to the VSA software for more detailed, vector signal analysis.
This same scenario works just fine even if the data is coming from an external file rather than being captured directly by the logic analyzer. The B4602A Signal Extractor software is purely post processing the data and doesn’t care whether the data source is a new acquisition or is a text or binary file that you load using the B4610A Data Import Tool.
It will be important that the logic analyzer have a license for the B4610A Data Import tool as this allows the analyzer to read external formats, such as .txt, .csv, and open-standard binary formats. As long as your data is in the appropriate format the analyzer can read in your file and pass it to the Signal Extractor software."
Just to clarify, I do not have a license for the B4610A or B4602A yet. I wanted to know if this combination would work with VSA. I have ordered the Signal Extractor license but it will take about a week or so to receive.
The LA Application is the latest, 05.10.0000
I have included the offline file "demo nadc statedata.ala" which is the source that ships with VSA. I've also included a screen grab of VSA running with the demodulation parameters. The other two files, *.csv and *.alb are exports from the Logic Analyzer application of the same "demo nadc statedata.ala" waveform.
The idea is to import either one and "play" in VSA directly or using B4602A. Notice that no other data exists in the digital data, it is just raw IQ values.
