Hello I have a HP8561A work very well, thill a few day's ago the display is dead. I have this fault before but after swicth on/off the diplay whas OK, also the SA work very well. I mesaure the cal output ,this signal is OK , The "video output " on the rear off the SA d'ont work ,i think it is a video failure ANY have a link for a service manual ?? or a solution for this problem.
The VIDEO OUTPUT of the 8561A is not a composite video signal that can be applied to a video monitor. The Video Out is a buffered version of the output of the envelope detector, which comes immediately after the log amplifier. It is more suitable to be applied to a strip chart recorder, waveform recorder, or oscilloscope. You can use the Sweep Out to drive the horizontal axis of a ‘scope and the Video Out to drive the Y-axis.
However, bear in mind that the Video Out signal is not calibrated.
Have you opened the unit? Please note that there are high voltages present so please don't do this if you haven't the skills! The high voltages can kill!
When the unit is open there are a couple of LEDs indicating voltages - are all on?
Most probably some of the electrolytic capacitors in the monitor unit is bad. These tend to dry out and it's a very frequent error.
I'm not sure how your spectrum analyzer looks like but on my 8594E the monitor with its casing could be lifted out and I changed the faulty capacitors. You can find the faulty one if you very carefully heat them a little. When the monitor starts to work you have found the faulty one - BUT once again DO NOT try this if you haven't worked with high voltages before!
There are some spectrum analyzers with a "monitor output" on the rear, this can be connected to an external monitor.
