Why would my N4010A report a "memory lost" error?

This type of error may be reported by the N4010A if it is power-cycled whilst running an internal calibration routine.

This happens because the N4010A uses two different sources of calibration data:

  • Permanent calibration data (updated via the annual calibration process).
  • Temporary calibration data (updated via the internal calibration routines).

When an internal calibration routine is executed, the N4010A deletes the temporary calibration data, replacing it with the results of the routine once it is complete. If the N4010A is power-cycled before the routine is complete, then one or more calibration files may be missing, resulting in a "memory lost" error.

If this type of error occurs, it can be cleared as follows:

  • Press SYSTEM, followed by SERVICE.
  • Execute the Calibrate All routine, and wait until it is complete.
  • Execute the Calibrate I/Q Balance routine, and wait until it is complete.
  • Power-cycle the instrument.

This type of error can also be caused by a hardware fault. If the error persists, then please contact your local Keysight Service Center for assistance:
