White Papers
Evaluating component performance of devices that operate between 67 GHz and 1.1 THz frequencies can be both expensive and challenging. Often time’s engineers designing, developing or testing new components will require both a network analyzer and a spectrum analyzer to fully understand their device under test (DUT) performance. The vector network analyzer (VNA) is primarily used to measure S-parameters. A spectrum analyzer (SA) is used to measure the presence of harmonically related signals, non-harmonic spurious signals and more.
During a typical troubleshooting session, the need to frequently connect, disconnect and reconnect the DUT to the VNA or SA is both inconvenient and may introduce measurement error. One answer is to incorporate both capabilities in a single instrument.
