Remote Radio Head Test, Reference Solution
Simplify your test bench and significantly drive down your total cost of test. Keysight’s remote radio head test, reference solution provides pre-defined measurements plus connectivity to remote radio head physical interfaces you can quickly and easily characterize downlink and uplink performance – with minimal test development.
Remote Radio Head Test Challenges
Cellular base stations architectures continue to evolve towards employing remote radio heads (RRH) connected to the baseband unit via a Common Public Radio Interface (CPRI) optical link. This architecture offers advantages in terms of optimizing base station hardware placement while minimizing RF cable losses. The test challenge lies in characterizing performance between the “front-haul” digital-baseband and the RF physical interfaces, on both the downlink and uplink. The front-haul physical interface traditionally relies on the development of custom hardware, requiring additional design and support resources.
Solution Highlights
Accelerate time to volume with reduced cost of test for remote radio head functional and performance measurements:
Remote Radio Head Test, Reference Solution
The remote radio head test, reference solution provides the physical interfaces together with the vector signal analysis and vector signal generation you need to carry out comprehensive functional and performance testing of your RRH.
Characterize the uplink (UL) and downlink (DL), RF air-interface to and from the digital “front-haul”. Connect and control your RRH, using standard “in-service” RF and CPRI and DC power ports, and run pre-defined performance test based on 3GPP standards. Measurement expertise is embedded so you can progress rapidly to valid results without spending time developing custom test hardware and complex test methods.
Simplify your test station and significantly drive down your total cost of test
Reduce your outlay and improve throughput – Keysight’s reference solution is optimized for speed, highly configurable and compact. You can complete your test and measurement projects fast and with confidence by using the pre-defined test methods for RRH downlink and uplink performance verification.
Simplify your test station and save resources – there is no need to develop and maintain your own custom “front-haul” and RF switching capability – this solution interfaces directly with your RRH physical-layer with connections for digital-baseband (CPRI), dual-RF, DC power.
Target applications
Verify functionality and performance of RRH physical interfaces, digital “front-haul” to RF: CPRI-baseband to/from antenna connection:
Development: Rapidly progress to 3GPP-based RF measurements with minimal test development. Graphical user interface (GUI) with multi-measurement display
Manufacturing: Drive down cost of test, optimize throughput. Highly integrated test solution, with sample test plans including DUT control
Bench repair: Easily connect via “in service” physical interfaces to perform functional test and diagnostics
This highly integrated, multi-RAT, multi-port test solution comes in a compact form factor. Optimized for speed, a single signal-capture provides multiple concurrent measurements, significantly reducing your test time. For ease of analysis the graphical user interface (GUI) displays multiple measurement windows simultaneously. You can compare results against pass/fail limits for simple go/no-go decisions. GUI interactions can be logged as a command-list, which you can use to create automation sequences.
From RRH development to manufacturing and also for repair, the physical interfaces and measurement knowledge provided in this reference solution will simplify your test station, minimize your test development task and maximize your test efficiency.
