How do I upgrade my N9030B PXA Signal Analyzer?
Most all of the N9030B options that are sold at the time of instrument purchase are also available as an upgrade option. Upgrade options can vary from a simple license key installation to more complex upgrades that involve installing multiple pieces of hardware. For each upgrade option it is advised that each row in the table is read and understood. Before purchasing an upgrade option that contains hardware items, the following steps should be taken:
- View the installation note by selecting the Install Note link in the Upgrade Contents cell.
- Determine from the installation instructions the complexity of the installation and whether you will perform the upgrade yourself or have a Keysight Service Center perform the installation.
- Review the Utilities, Adjustments & Performance Verification Tests section of the installation instructions to see what the required adjustments and performance tests are once the upgrade is installed.
- Review the following lists of test equipment requirements for each required adjustment and performance test to further determine whether you have the ability to perform the upgrade yourself or have an Keysight Service Center perform the installation.
If an upgrade option is going to be installed by an Keysight Service Center, additional labor charges may apply. Your Keysight field engineer can provide an all inclusive quote.
All instrument adjustments are automated and require the use of the Keysight Performance Verification & Adjustment Software.
Many hardware upgrades will require the redemption and installation of a license key file (.lic) to activate the option. Once a entitlement certificate is received the license key file can be redeemed at the Keysight Software License Redemption Website

1 While the completion of the recommended adjustments and verification tests for a given option upgrade does verify the functionality of the option, it does not guarantee that the entire instrument meets all published specifications. A full instrument calibration is the only way to guarantee that all instrument specifications are being met.
2 The instrument calibration data file MUST be transferred in order for the analyzer to meet specifications. If the cal file is not transferred all adjustments and verification tests must be performed. Refer to the Installation Note in the above table for details
3 Upgrade can be performed by the User without any performance verification required if the instrument being upgraded is still within it's original factory calibration cycle and no major repairs or adjustments have been performed on it. See the upgrade installation note for more details.

Instrument Software
Instrument Software Update:
The software update package for the X-Series Signal Analyzers contains the spectrum analyzer measurement application, all the advanced measurement application software, and all other updates required by the individual measurement assemblies inside the instrument.
Keysight recommends updating the instrument software version whenever an internal hardware upgrade or measurement application is installed into the analyzer.
