What is enhanced overload detection and power trip function?

Since the autumn in 2015, the E5061B Option-115/117/135/137/215/217/235/237 ships with enhanced overload detection and power trip function. The E5061B Option-3L5 does not have this function.

Caution

 

Do not apply the exceeded RF power from an external Signal Generator on the Input Ports. Since the E5061B does not turn off the external SG input, the RF power comes into the E5061B. Do not apply the exceeded RF power from an external Signal Generator on the Input Ports. Since the E5061B does not turn off the external SG input, the RF power reflects back to the measurement sample (DUT).

(2) The way to identify that your E5061B has the "enhanced" overload detection and power trip function.

Step-1: Run the Rcv_check.vba.
Step-2: If your E5061B has the enhanced overload detection and power trip function, you can see "Enhanced" in the screen.
           If your E5061B does not have the enhanced overload detection and power trip function, you can see "Original" in the screen.

(3) The way to upgrade to the "enhanced" overload detection and power trip function

This is not firmware upgrade by customer. This requires hardware (receiver board) replacement by Keysight service center.
Order E5061BU-611 for 75 ohm model or E5061BU-612 for 50 ohm model.
