Note: if Oscilloscope Mobile Agent on the PC can connect to an oscilloscope, then Oscilloscope Mobile can connect the scope through the PC, regardless of the version of Oscilloscope Mobile

What should I install first, Oscilloscope Mobile or Oscilloscope Mobile Agent?

It doesn't matter, you can install them in either order.

Why don't I see any waveforms when I first connect to an oscilloscope in Oscilloscope Mobile?

When you connect to an oscilloscope from Oscilloscope Mobile, it is in Stopped mode if the scope is stopped. Tap the red Stopped button to go to Running mode and view live waveforms.

Why is the waveform update rate sometimes low in Oscilloscope Mobile?

This can occur when Oscilloscope Mobile on your PC is connected to an oscilloscope in a different geography. This causes networking slowdowns that lead to slow updating of the waveforms in Oscilloscope Mobile.

Also, you will generally get a faster waveform update rate if you connect to an oscilloscope through a PC running Oscilloscope Mobile Agent.

Why is the Run/Stop button on my oscilloscope blinking red when Oscilloscope Mobile is Running?

When Oscilloscope Mobile is in Running mode, it performs single captures, one after the other, as if you were at the front panel pressing the Single button over and over. After each single capture, the oscilloscope is stopped, so the Run/Stop button on the front panel is red. Therefore, the rapid sequence of single captures makes the Run/Stop button blink red.

Why do I see less detailed waveforms in Oscilloscope Mobile compared to the scope screen?

Only a subset of the data captured by the scope is transferred to Oscilloscope mobile. Therefore, the scope screen may show greater detail than the Oscilloscope Mobile screen.

What can I do if the Oscilloscope Mobile screen gets out of sync with the scope screen?

Oscilloscope Mobile supports zooming in and out on waveforms using multitouch gestures. These operations only affect the Oscilloscope Mobile display; they don't affect the scope. To undo the effect of zooming in and out, double-tap the screen. Note: for documentation about zooming in and out, connect to a scope then tap the Help button in the scope screen.

If you haven't performed zoom in/out operations and Oscilloscope Mobile has gotten out of sync with the scope screen, tap the AutoScale button in Oscilloscope Mobile. If that doesn't restore sync, then tap the back button to go back to the Connect to Scope screen, and tap Connect to reconnect to the scope.

Why don't multitouch gestures such as pinch-zoom change the state of my oscilloscope?

Certain Oscilloscope Mobile features only affect the local view of the waveform and not the oscilloscope configuration. Tap the Help button while viewing a waveform to see more details about this.

The "local only" features include vertical and horizontal pinch-zoom, dragging a waveform vertically (voltage offset) or horizontally (time offset), and double-tap.

Can I use Oscilloscope Mobile when I am not at work?

Yes. If your oscilloscope is at work and you are offsite, you can still connect to your oscilloscope using Oscilloscope Mobile. But in order to do so, Oscilloscope Mobile must be able to connect to the oscilloscope or to a PC running Oscilloscope Mobile Agent. Usually the best way to do this is to install VPN software on your mobile device so you can access your company's intranet from offsite. Check with your system administrator to see if your company supports VPN access to the intranet from your mobile device.

Can I use Oscilloscope Mobile to capture a screenshot of my oscilloscope?

Yes. To do this, connect to your scope then tap the Instrument Screen Shot button at the bottom of the Oscilloscope Mobile screen. After the screenshot is captured, Oscilloscope Mobile displays it so you can share it.

Can I capture a screenshot of the Oscilloscope Mobile screen?

Yes. To do this, tap the menu button then tap Screenshot. After the screenshot is captured, Oscilloscope Mobile displays it so you can share it.

Can I use the front panel and Oscilloscope Mobile at the same time?

Yes, but this requires some care since you can be changing the state of the oscilloscope from both the front panel and from Oscilloscope Mobile. Oscilloscope Mobile notifies you if a front panel operation is performed while you are connected to an oscilloscope (except on Infiniium 9000 series oscilloscopes). This is intended to avoid a situation where the Oscilloscope Mobile user doesn't know that someone else is using the front panel. When a front panel user makes a change, Oscilloscope Mobile updates its display to reflect the change made by the front panel user.

Why can't I used the front panel on my Infiniium 9000 Series oscilloscope when Oscilloscope Mobile is connect?

Oscilloscope Mobile can't detect a front panel operation on an Infiniium 9000 Series oscilloscope. In order to regain control of your front panel, you need to exit the Oscilloscope Mobile Agent program that is running on your PC.

Can multiple Oscilloscope Mobile users connect to the same scope at the same time?

Yes. To do this, all of the Oscilloscope Mobile users should connect to the same PC running Oscilloscope Mobile Agent. Then, each of the users will see changes made by other users, and only one program (Oscilloscope Mobile Agent) will be sending commands to the oscilloscope.

If multiple Oscilloscope Mobile users connect directly to the same oscilloscope, it will cause problems because they will send commands to the oscilloscope at the same time. Similarly, if one Oscilloscope Mobile user connects directly to an oscilloscope, and another Oscilloscope Mobile user connects to the same oscilloscope through a PC, it will cause problems because they will send commands to the oscilloscope at the same time.

Can multiple PCs running Oscilloscope Mobile Agent connect to the same oscilloscope?

This is possible, but we strongly advise against it. Two or more instances of Oscilloscope Mobile Agent connected to the same oscilloscope will cause problems because will send commands to the oscilloscope at the same time. If you want to have multiple Oscilloscope Mobile users connect to the same scope, see the above question for the recommended method.

Can I temporarily disable Oscilloscope Mobile access to my oscilloscope?

Yes, just exit the Oscilloscope Mobile Agent on your PC.
