I’m using the N7609B with an X-series signal generator. Can I generate a real-time GNSS signal without being connected to Signal Studio?

Yes, if you are using a stored scenario file, but not if you are using continuous scenario generation mode. For a stored scenario file, after you set up your GNSS Settings, click on the “State On” button to download a scenario to the EXG/MXG and start the signal playing, then click on “State Off” to regain control of the signal generator’s front panel. Save the instrument state to a register. Now you can disconnect from the PC. To play the scenario, recall the register, then press these keys on the front panel: Mode > Real-time Applications > GNSS > GNSS On.

In continuous scenario generation mode, the N7609B is calculating new scenario data and downloading it to the EXG/MXG every few minutes, so you must be running Signal Studio with a data connection to the EXG/MXG in order to keep the scenario data updated.
