How do I upgrade my E6607B Wireless Communications Test Set?
Most all of the EXT options that are sold at the time of instrument purchase are also available as an upgrade option. The upgrades in most cases are either Hardware Options or Measurement Applications. The upgrade contents are described in the tables below as Hardware, Software, License Key, or some combination of the three. Hardware retrofit kits will contain the assemblies to be installed as well as the installation instructions. In many cases a license key will be required to activate the hardware option or measurement application. Upgrade options are categorized as:
- Internal Hardware Upgrades (Ex. Precision Frequency Reference)
- External Hardware Upgrades (Ex. Rackmount Kits or Hard Transit Case)
- Complementary Hardware (Ex. Multiport Adapter)
- Instrument Software (Ex. Instrument Software & Measurement Applications)
Internal Hardware Upgrades:
Before a hardware upgrade is purchased the following steps should be taken:
- View the installation instructions by selecting the "Available" links in the tables below for the desired upgrade option.
- Determine from the installation instructions the complexity of the installation and whether you will perform the upgrade yourself or have an Keysight Service Center do it for you.
If an upgrade option is going to be installed by an Keysight Service Center, additional labor charges will apply. Your Keysight field engineer can provide an all inclusive quote for this.
All instrument adjustments are automated and require the use of the Keysight Performance Verification & Adjustment Software which is only available at Keysight Service centers or by use of the Voscal service provided by Keysight.
Many hardware upgrades will require the redemption and installation of a license key file to activate the option. Once a redemption certificate is received the license key file can be redeemed at the Keysight Software License Redemption Website

Instrument Software
Instrument Software Update:
The software update package for the EXT Wireless Communications Test Set contains the X-series analyzer measurement application, all the advanced measurement application software, and all other updates required by the individual measurement assemblies inside the instrument.
Keysight recommends updating the instrument software version whenever an internal hardware upgrade or measurement application is installed into the EXT.

Measurement Applications require the redemption and installation of a license key file (.lic). Measurement application upgrades are meant to be performed by the customer, and no adjustments or performance verification tests are required.
In order to redeem a license key, the end user must have a valid redemption certificate and then go to the Keysight Software License Redemption Website
