How to access board directories resided on the Linux/Unix server using SAMBA/Common Internet File System (CIFS), if ICT controller is on Windows® 7?

WARNING: Setting up a mixed NFS network requires specific expertise in network management, UNIX and Windows® operating systems, and NIS services. SAMBA is a utility which allows you to share your files between Linux/UNIX and Windows®. By mounting the SAMBA share on your Linux/UNIX server, you can access the board files across the operating systems. If you are using SAMBA, you can remain with Windows 7 Professional edition. There are some steps to perform once SAMBA share has been set up.
• On the Linux/UNIX controller that is running SAMBA, add the Windows 7 ICT controller host name as follows:
     1. Modify /etc/samba/smb.conf
     2. At “Hosts allow =
• Set up SAMBA username/password by running the ‘smbpasswd’ program on Linux/UNIX.
• On the Windows controller, open Windows Explorer and select Tools > Map Network Drive, then pick an available drive letter and for the Folder, enter \\\ and click ok. Enter the username/password created in the previous step. (see the screenshots 1 & 2 below).
• Once completed, you can access the board directories and proceed as usual.
