I am having problems installing the PSG/ESG Upgrade Assistant on Windows 7. What can I do?

The installer for the PSG/ESG Upgrade Assistant was written before Windows Vista® or Windows® 7 were released. These steps may be required to successfully install it on Windows Vista or Windows 7.

  1. Make sure you are using the latest version of the Upgrade Assistant. You must use at least revision 5.18 or later with Windows 7. The latest version of the Upgrade Assistant is available from the Signal Generator Firmware/Software Update Center web page on the Keysight web site.
  2. Double click the Upgrade Assistant .exe file. If a User Account Control Dialog box appears asking if you want the program to make changes to the computer, click the Yes button. Click OK in the initial installation dialog box to start the installation, then follow the instructions. Click the Finish button to finish the installation.
  3. If a Program Compatibility Assistant dialog box appears which says “This program might not have installed correctly” either during the installation in step 2 or after pressing the Finish button in step 2, click the “Reinstall using recommended settings” button and reinstall the program.

These instructions apply to both Windows Vista as well as Windows 7 (both x86 and x64 versions) and apply to the installation of the PSG/ESG Upgrade Assistant program as well as the installation of the PSG/ESG firmware package program. The current schedule for eliminating this compatibility issue is planned for Spring 2012.
