Question

How do I establish a peer-to-peer connection between my PC and an InfiniiVision 5000/6000/7000 Series oscilloscope?

Answer

There are two methods:

Method 1:

  1. Connect the crossover LAN cable between your oscilloscope and PC.
  2. On the oscilloscope, proceed to Utility > I/O > Configure, and select LAN.
  3. Select LAN Settings > Config, and make sure all IP Configuration Options are turned off.
  4. Click Apply, and the oscilloscope will update the configuration.
    For example:
    IP – 169.254.254.254
    Subnet – 255.255.248.0
    Gateway – 169.254.254.254
  5. Go to your Network Connections at your computer.
  6. Right-click Local Area Network > Properties.
  7. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) & click on Properties.
  8. Check “Use Following IP Address”, and key in all three settings for IP, Subnet Mask, and Gateway.
  9. Change the last octet in the IP address (using a number from 0 to 255) shown in the oscilloscope earlier. Enter the same address for both Subnet and Gateway in your PC.
    For example:
    IP – 169.254.254.253
    Subnet – 255.255.248.0
    Gateway – 169.254.254.254
Note: Do not enter the same IP address shown in the oscilloscope.
  10. Then, click OK. The instrument is connected now, and the instrument’s web interface may be used.

Method 2:
