Operational "How to" Guides
Summary
Is it possible on the Keysight ENA series Network Analyzers to over-ride the output source blanking at every sweep end?Description
(SUPPORTED MODELS IN BOLD: E5071C E5072A E5070B/71B E5070A/71A E5061A/62A E5061B)
Yes, the output source blanking on sweep retrace can be prevented by turning off the Initial Source Port Control function via the System -> Service Menu -> Init Src Ctrl [Off] menu selections.
With the "Init Src Ctrl = OFF", the source stimulus will persist upon the completion of a sweep, i.e. upon trigger completion. With the "Init Src Ctrl = ON", the source stimulus will be attenuated and the test port LED will be turned off each time a sweep completes, i.e. upon trigger completion.
Additionally, the System > Service > Init Src Port [1|2|3|4] selection (not applicable for E5061B network analyzers) allows the user to re-assign where the source stimulus is applied at the completion of a sweep. This functionality provides for additional attenuation of the source output on the stimulus port upon completion of the sweep. For example, an S11 measurement with the stimulus applied to Port 1 (during the sweep / measurement process) can have the source stimulus disabled as well as re-directed to an alternate port, i.e. port 2, 3 or 4 (option dependent) upon entering the trigger complete mode.
