MIMO Measurement Tips with Power Meter & USB Power Sensor

Application Notes

Multiple-input,multiple-output (MIMO) is the use of multiple antennas at both the transmitting and receiving ends simultaneously to improve spectral eficiency. MIMO technology offers tremendous performance improvement for wireless local area network (WLAN) or cellular technologies such as worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX), or long term evolution (LTE). With the MIMO technique, users will see immediate range/throughput beneits. Consequently, MIMO will play a key role in future wireless communication systems.

This application note explains why the Keysight Technologies, Inc. power measurement solutions are ideal for enabling accurate and repeatable MIMO measurements. This application note then shows you how to use these measurement solutions step by step to perform accurate and repeatable MIMO power measurements. This note also describes MIMO-related measurements that can be supported by the power meter and sensor, as well as their key beneits. The procedures outlined in this application note apply to most measurements of any orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM)-type signals.
