How do I upgrade the firmware for large slot tunable lasers in the 8164 mainframe?

You can upgrade the 816xx full size tunable lasers firmware via GPIB, via floppy disks or using a serial null-modem cable (Keysight Technologies Part Number: 5180-2477). If you are also upgrading the 816x mainframe firmware it is recommended that you upgrade the mainframe prior to upgrading the module firmware.

To update via GPIB or serial cable, you require a PC running MS Windows 95 or NT 4.0 or higher. To update via GPIB the PC must be fitted with a suitable interface card. Alternatively, a serial null-modem cable is required, such as is supplied with your 816x mainframe.

You also require the module update program, which is supplied on
the Support CD-ROM. Copy Module_Update.exe to a directory on your
PC's hard drive, then execute Module_Update.exe to install the
module update program.
