Introduction

The RF ampliier is a key component used in a wide variety of industries such as wireless communication systems, medical equipment, and automotive devices. Characterizing the performance of these ampliiers is a critical stage in the design and veriication process. These ampliiers must meet strict performance speciications in order that the systems can comply with regulations. In addition, the devices have their own criteria to meet from a business point of view, such as power eficiency, reliability, physical size and cost. This application note will briely review the basic measurement fundamentals of characterizing ampliiers with network analyzers. Also some unique testing techniques using the ENA E5071C network analyzer will be introduced and described in more detail.
