Can I use Signal Studio for pulse building with Windows® 7?
Windows 7 works with N7620B.

FAQ 2012-12-28

How do I switch between trigger modes?
Any change between None, Continuous, or Single trigger mode requires only a "play" to update the Arb. Any change to or from the pulse trigger mode requires a "download and play". You must create a different waveform and sequence data for the pulse trigger mode.

FAQ 2012-12-28

Why can’t I view a help file downloaded from the Keysight website?
After downloading the file to your PC, open it from the location it was saved and a security warning appears. To view the help system, clear the checkmark from the "Always ask before opening this file" check box.

FAQ 2012-12-28

What happens when I turn the N6030A arbitrary waveform generator off?
You will probably need to reboot PC if you are using an MXI to PXI interface. All signal data is lost.

FAQ 2012-12-28

Why should I use Amplitude Offset?
Use the Amplitude Offset feature to account for any external gain or loss that is greater than 10 dB.

FAQ 2012-12-28

Why do I want to mirror the spectrum?
Mirror Spectrum reverses the spectrum of the waveform when it is downloaded. This is useful for systems with external upconversion and downconversion where the signal spectrum is mirrored by the conversion process.

FAQ 2012-12-28

Should the N7620B Signal Studio for Pulse Building software always use the N6030A arbitrary waveform generator built-in predistortion function?
Yes, the N6030A predistortion function works very well and should always be used.

FAQ 2012-12-28

What is the best configuration for wideband I/Q modulation?
An E8267D Option 016 or an N8212A Option 016 signal generator with an M8190A arbitrary waveform generator

FAQ 2012-12-28

Can I renew or extend the 30-day trial license after expiration?
After the trial license expires on an instrument, it cannot be renewed or extended.

FAQ 2012-12-28

How many measurements do I need to make and how long is the predistortion data good?
The number of measurements needed depends on the number of parameters that are changed. The calibration (measurement data) could be valid for two days or longer.

FAQ 2012-12-28

What is the performance difference between the N8212A module with Option 016 and the N8241A arbitrary waveform generator synthetic instrument module?
The N8212A with Option 016 is based on the E8267D PSG signal generator with Option 016; the N8241A is based on the N6030A arbitrary waveform generator.

FAQ 2012-12-28

What are the details related to using the N6030xA/M933xA and N824xA arbitrary waveform generator predistortion?
The built-in predistortion scales the data to guarantee that you never get a DAC over-range condition. Typically, it gives up 2-3 dB of range. This is important because less power out of the N6030A means less leveled output power from the PSG with...

FAQ 2012-12-28

Is the channel correction a new feature?
No, it has been available on the MXG since 2009. However, the functionality in the X-Series signal generators has been significantly improved since the first-generation MXG implementation.

FAQ 2012-12-26

Is the performance of 0.4% EVM for 160 MHz 802.11ac best test result or average performance for N5182B MXG or N5172B EXG X-Series signal generators?
0.4% EVM is characteristic data of a small sample of N5182B MXG signal generators using the PXA and VSA 89601B.

FAQ 2012-12-26

Which USB power sensors are supported on the X-Series signal generators?
All Keysight U200xx USB power sensors are supported. in the future, ...

FAQ 2012-12-26

Are there any S1 S2 measurements with power sensors on the X-Series signal generators?
No, however, the “User” channel correction routine in X-Series vector signal generators measures DUT channel response in phase and amplitude with power sensor.

FAQ 2012-12-26

Is there SCPI code compatibility from the 8662A or 8663A to the X-Series signal generators?
Yes

FAQ 2012-12-26

What is embedded software versus Signal Studio software?

FAQ 2012-12-14

For waveform 5-pack licenses, what alternatives are available for customers that require additional waveform evaluation time after the initial 30-d...

FAQ 2012-12-13

Is there a 30-day trial license for this application?
Only selected Signal Studio software applications have the 30-day free trial license available, while others allow a free evaluation of the software interface only.

FAQ 2012-12-11

For waveform 5-pack licenses, can the customer download a waveform generated with the 30-day license?
Yes, if a waveform was created using the 30-day trial, it can be downloaded to any MXG/ESG with unused waveform 5-pack license slots.

FAQ 2012-12-11

When simulating a signal that includes GLONASS and Galileo my receiver is reporting different satellite IDs than shown in the Signal Studio, why?
While GPS satellites are commonly identified by the pseudorandom codes (PRN) that they use, there is no industry standard yet for how to refer to the GLONASS or Galileo satellites.

FAQ 2012-11-21

I’m using the N7609B with an X-series signal generator. Can I generate a real-time GNSS signal without being connected to Signal Studio?
Yes, if you are using a stored scenario file, but not if you are using continuous scenario generation mode.

FAQ 2012-11-21

How much baseband generator memory is needed in the signal generator to use basic mode waveforms?
The amount of memory that is needed depends on how many waveform files you need to have in the instrument memory at one time.

FAQ 2012-11-21

What is the maximum sampling rate for the GNSS waveforms?
The sampling rates vary depending on which constellation is being simulated, and they range from 2.044 MSa/s for GLONASS up to 24.552 MSa/s for Galileo.
