FAQ 2011-01-06

When measuring a capacitor via a Keysight LCR meter, what is the best circuit mode, Cs or Cp?

FAQ 2010-09-30

External test, 26 TRD LOSS test fails. How do I execute?
In the 26 TRD LOSS test, use 2 m N(m)-N(m) cable for the connection between S and R on the 4291B front panel. If it fails even using the 2m cable, troubleshoot the test station.

FAQ 2010-09-19

Can I read a list sweep measurement data by operating the soft-panel of the E4980A on Web Browser?
Yes, you can read a list sweep measurement data using Web-server control mode.

FAQ 2010-09-19

4263B: What is the signal source output impedance?
*

FAQ 2010-09-08

When utilizing Save/Recall on the E4991A file names are limited to six characters. Is there a method to save/recall files with longer names?

FAQ 2010-07-12

Why isn't calibration option (UK6) available for the 42941A?
The 42941A does not have calibration option because the 4294A specifies total measurement accuracy including the 4294A accuracy.

FAQ 2010-07-12

Is there any effective way to measure the impedance of a pressure sensitive SMD component (ex. a ferrite bead) with the 16196 series or 16197A test...
In order to measure a pressure sensitive device, the pressure applied to the DUT by the test fixture needs to be carefully controlled.

FAQ 2010-07-02

In the 4395A/4396B NA mode, the "dB" expression is used instead of the "dBm" even when the meas. parameter is set to absolute power amplitude.
Please regard the displayed "dB" as "dBm".

FAQ 2010-07-02

Why is there a step (discontinuity) on the trace of noise floor around 10 MHz in 4395A's SA mode even when no signal is input into the test port?
This phenomenon is caused by a change in circuit operation of the 4395A at 10 MHz.

FAQ 2010-07-02

How is measurement accuracy calculated when the 42841A is used with the 4284A, 4285A or E4980A?
The measurement accuracy is the sum of the measurement instrument accuracy and additional error produced when the instrument is used with the 42841A and bias current test fixture.

FAQ 2010-07-02

What is input impedance of the 4339B?
Nominal input resistance is 1000 Ω .

FAQ 2010-07-02

The 4339B with 16339A test fixture: The insulation resistance of a high value ceramic C (≥1000 pF) is very noisy even after 60 sec. charging time.

FAQ 2010-07-02

How can I replace the contact tip of the 16334A?
The replacement contact tip is orderable by part number 16334-09002.

FAQ 2010-07-02

Can I control the E4980A functions by operation on Web Browser?
Yes, you can control the E4980A over Web Browser by connecting it to your PC by LAN.

FAQ 2010-07-02

Why don't the E4991A and 4287A have Load compensation function?
Performing Load compensation in addition to Open/Short compensation is equivalent to performing Open/Short/ Load calibration at DUT contacts of test fixture (by using the working standard devices).

FAQ 2010-07-02

Why cannot I control TEST SET ATTEN PT1 and PT2 functions in ATTENUATOR MENU when the 87511A S-parameter test set is used with the 4395A?
The TEST SET ATTEN PT1 and TEST SET ATTEN PT2 functions cannot be controlled because the 87511A is not equipped with input attenuators.

FAQ 2010-07-02

How can I order the 4263B option upgrade kit?
Refer to "4263B LCR Meter Option Upgrades" for more details of the upgrade kits.

FAQ 2010-07-02

Error message "PHASE LOCK LOOP UNLOCKED" could be displayed, when the 4294A using an external ref. osc (opt.1D5 or other 10 MHz output) is ON.
The message is removed when any key of the front panel except [Preset]. In this case, the unit works properly.

FAQ 2010-07-02

Does Sweep End signal output on 24-bit I/O port of the 4294A have similar definition as End of Measure (EOM) signal on LCR meters?
Sweep End signal means the end of entire sweep measurement, not the end of measurement at each sweep point.

FAQ 2010-07-02

Can the cylindrical insulator reduce the effect of magnetic coupling between the inductive DUT and the outer conductor of the 16196A/B/C/D fixtures...
Yes, but the effect of reducing the magnetic coupling effect is not sufficient and depends on the DUT.

FAQ 2010-07-02

The 4294A displays a caution "Reduce OSC level" or "Bridge Unbalanced" in Fixture COMP [Short] with 1V OSC level. Is the compensation still valid?
No, the SHORT COMPEN value is invalid. The 4294A cannot measure DUT impedance below 48 ohms at OSC level setting over 500 mV.

FAQ 2010-07-02

The 4395A with the 41800A Active Probe or the 41802A 1 MΩ Input Adapter: Is any calculation required for converting the data for 50 Ω input?
No, any conversion calculation related to the difference in input impedance (between 1 MΩs and 50 Ωs) is not required. You can directly read the measurement value on the 4395A.

FAQ 2010-07-02

E4991A-002/4291A/B-002 with 16454A: Why is impedance measurement value different from the value calculated from permeability?
Error compensation in the permeability measurement firmware produces the difference between measured impedance and permeability.
