FAQ 2010-09-30

Can I read a list sweep measurement data by operating the soft-panel of the E4980A on Web Browser?
Yes, you can read a list sweep measurement data using Web-server control mode.

FAQ 2010-09-19

External test, 26 TRD LOSS test fails. How do I execute?
In the 26 TRD LOSS test, use 2 m N(m)-N(m) cable for the connection between S and R on the 4291B front panel. If it fails even using the 2m cable, troubleshoot the test station.

FAQ 2010-09-08

When utilizing Save/Recall on the E4991A file names are limited to six characters. Is there a method to save/recall files with longer names?

FAQ 2010-07-12

Why isn't calibration option (UK6) available for the 42941A?
The 42941A does not have calibration option because the 4294A specifies total measurement accuracy including the 4294A accuracy.

FAQ 2010-07-12

Does typical permittivity measurement accuracy includes all the uncertainties due to the E4991A with opt 002, 16453A and MUT insertion conditions?
Yes. All the uncertainties are included in the typical measurement accuracy.

FAQ 2010-07-02

The 4339B with 16339A test fixture: The insulation resistance of a high value ceramic C (≥1000 pF) is very noisy even after 60 sec. charging time.

FAQ 2010-07-02

How wide range of resistivity can the 4339B measure when used with the 16008B?
The 4339B can measure surface resistivity up to 7 x 1017 Ω and volume resistivity up to 8 x 1018 Ω-cm, but it depends on the electrodes of the 16008B used.

FAQ 2010-07-02

How can I order the 4263B option upgrade kit?
Refer to "4263B LCR Meter Option Upgrades" for more details of the upgrade kits.

FAQ 2010-07-02

Why don't the E4991A and 4287A have Load compensation function?
Performing Load compensation in addition to Open/Short compensation is equivalent to performing Open/Short/ Load calibration at DUT contacts of test fixture (by using the working standard devices).

FAQ 2010-07-02

What is the 4294A's GPIB command to read sweep frequency data though OUTPDATA command transfers only measurement data?
"OUTPSWPRM" or "OUTPSWPRMP" are the commands to read out the sweep parameters according to the number of points.

FAQ 2010-07-02

Can I separately order the heat-resistant cable without ordering E4991U-007 Upgrade Kit?
No. The heat-resistant cable cannot be ordered separately from the E4991U-007.

FAQ 2010-07-02

Is it possible to separate the test head from the E4991A and interconnect them with cables?
Yes. It is possible with option E4991A-010 or option E4991A-007 only.

FAQ 2010-07-02

Can I have criteria or a list of non-applicable liquid materials for the 16452A?
Avoid measuring acidic, alkaline and ionic materials with the 16452A.

FAQ 2010-07-02

The E4980A/4284A display much lower resistance values than DUT's DC resistance when measuring high-value resistors in Mega-ohms region.
Set the measurement function to Cp - Rp mode to measure high resistance properly.

FAQ 2010-07-02

How is measurement accuracy calculated when the 42841A is used with the 4284A, 4285A or E4980A?
The measurement accuracy is the sum of the measurement instrument accuracy and additional error produced when the instrument is used with the 42841A and bias current test fixture.

FAQ 2010-07-02

The marker list function in the NA mode of the 4395A/4396B displays "EXTRA" value in the list below Smith chart. What does this value stand for?
It stands for equivalent capacitance or inductance.

FAQ 2010-07-02

How can I get DC bias current resolution of 20 mA in the 1 A to 2 A range when the E4980A-002 is used with 2 units of the 42841A?
The bias current resolution has been improved on the E4980A with firmware revision 2.12 and above. If your E4980A has firmware revision 2.10 or below, upgrade the firmware to revision 2.12 or above.

FAQ 2010-07-02

Is there any effective way to measure the impedance of a pressure sensitive SMD component (ex. a ferrite bead) with the 16196 series or 16197A test...
In order to measure a pressure sensitive device, the pressure applied to the DUT by the test fixture needs to be carefully controlled.

FAQ 2010-07-02

Does Sweep End signal output on 24-bit I/O port of the 4294A have similar definition as End of Measure (EOM) signal on LCR meters?
Sweep End signal means the end of entire sweep measurement, not the end of measurement at each sweep point.

FAQ 2010-07-02

Why does measurement data exhibit a discontinuity at 5 MHz or 15 MHz and how can the 4294A get rid of this phenomenon?
The 4294A extends its measurement frequency range up to 110 MHz by terminating each measurement terminal with 50 ohm in order to eliminate the resonance of test leads (including leads inside the 4294A).

FAQ 2010-07-02

The 4294A displays a caution "Reduce OSC level" or "Bridge Unbalanced" in Fixture COMP [Short] with 1V OSC level. Is the compensation still valid?
No, the SHORT COMPEN value is invalid. The 4294A cannot measure DUT impedance below 48 ohms at OSC level setting over 500 mV.

FAQ 2010-07-02
