If we use external clocks for both the Pattern Generator and Error Detector parts, can we run them at different data rates?
It would be more straight-forward to provide the PG (TX) with a 10 GHz clock (for 10 Gb/s data) and then use the 1:4 demux and provide the ED (RX) with a 2.5 GHz clock (measuring 2.5 Gb/s data). Click on the question for additional information.

FAQ 2017-06-28

What is the raw jitter tolerance for the N4960A/N4952A?
There is no CDR in the N4960A, so by itself, the JTOL plot will be a flat line somewhere below 1 UI. An external CDR can be used. Click on the question for additional information.

FAQ 2017-06-28

Why is the segmented memory acquisition mode useful and which Infiniium oscilloscopes support it?
Segmented memory mode offers more efficient acquisition memory usage for storing waveforms with events of interest that are separated by long periods of time. All currently shipping Infiniiums and many older units support segmented memory.

FAQ 2013-09-18

Which Keysight oscilloscopes have a 10 MHz reference input/output?
6000 Series, 6000L Series, 7000A Series, 7000B Series, 9000 Series, 54850 Series (Output only), 80000A Series, 80000B Series, 90000A Series and 90000 X-Series

FAQ 2012-10-17

How can I de-embed a test fixture using the 86100C/D Digital Communications Analyzer?
N1010A software with InfiniiSIM-DCA option provides the capability to de-embed and embed fixtures, cables, probes, and other circuit elements.

FAQ 2012-09-25

For the InfiniiMax probes, what effect does the "Signal being probed" setting have? Why do I have to specify single-ended or differential?
Infiniium scopes and InfiniiMax differential probe amplifiers have a unique method of applying DC offset which considers whether the signal being probed is single-ended or differential...

FAQ 2010-10-06

My InfiniiMax probe fails calibration or does not accurately pick up the cal signal when I use the E2655A test fixture. What could be wrong?
The first step in troubleshooting a failed probe calibration should be to compare the actual signal and the probed signal. If the probed signal does not track the actual signal well, it is most likely due to a poor connection.

FAQ 2010-03-09

How do I get the maximum available memory depth from my Infiniium oscilloscope?
The various Infiniium models offer between 32K and 128M points of memory per channel. The following guide shows you how to get the maximum available memory from your particular scope.

FAQ 2009-11-19

How do I put an Infiniium oscilloscope into XY mode?
All Infiniium models have a math function called "versus", which plots one channel or function versus another channel or function.

FAQ 2009-02-17

Why do I see more noise on my oscilloscope when a probe is connected?
When a probe is connected, the scope changes its attenuation setting so that it correctly displays the voltage coming from the probe.
