EMC Automotive Seminar

Join us for this half day complimentary seminar (continental breakfast and lunch are included), and we'll provide you with an overall understanding of automotive EMC testing, including the standards trends, test challenges, measurement solutions, and test instruments.

Automobiles have very stringent EMC environments in which electronic devices like noise-sensitive receivers and large-signal transmitters are densely packed. Outside environments should not affect the inside of the vehicle. With the advent of connected cars, wireless communication fields of Automotive Electronics are expanding very fast. Due to the integration of the latest wireless technologies, EMI/EMC testing for vehicles is a top priority for safety and also needs to spread to the field of wireless communication.

In this seminar, we'll discuss trends in international standards and the future direction for these changes with actual test cases. Testing experts from Keysight, TOYO and MET Labs will present the needs around the convergence of wireless and automotive technology.

Attendees will have an overall understanding of Automotive EMC testing including the Standard trends, test challenges, measurement solutions and test instruments.

Engineers with interest in wireless and/or automotive technologies with EMC.

Design and Test Challenges of Automotive Electronics
Advanced electronic technologies including RF, wireless, millimeter wave, high speed digital, power and energy are rapidly changing our lives with safer, more convenient and better environment friendly transportation. Applying advanced technologies offers enormous benefits; however, it also brings to the forefront new design and test challenges for developers and manufacturers working in the advanced automotive industry. This presentation starts with examples of major design and test challenges of autonomous driving and then provides glimpse of Keysight’s solutions which help your automotive innovations to market faster.

9:50am - 10:35 am
An Overview of Automotive EMI Compliance Requirements for EU
During this one hour session we will go over EU EMC/EMI automotive requirements and the challenges for automotive manufacturers, we will explore various requirements and cover E-mark testing needs and approval process. We will also do a brief comparison with other international Automotive standards.

10:45am - 11:30am
Trends of International EMC Standards for Cars and ESAs
There are many international standards for EMC testing on automobiles and ESAs (electrical sub-assemblies) such as ISO, CISPR, IEC, and ECE, and the surging popularity of EV is making it even more complicated to conform to these standards. In addition, the automotive standards are updated constantly and define testing not only of automobiles but also of commercial instruments such as those used at charging stations. As a result, it is getting ever more difficult for test engineers to keep abreast of the latest standards while clarifying the differences from the previous ones. TOYO provides total solutions to design EMC testing overcoming such difficulties. This presentation brings you up to date on the trends of the automobile EMC standards to help make your EMC testing even more efficient and effective.

11:30am - 12:15pm
An Overview of EMI Compliance Receivers and Pre-compliance Spectrum Analyzers
Modern advances in receiver and spectrum analyzer technologies provide the EMC test community with new tools to improve measurement accuracy and reduce data collection and analysis times. These tools provide significant improvement in operational efficiencies and time-to-market across all industries, including the growing markets such as IoT devices, electric/hybrid automobiles and modern health care electronics. This paper will provide an overview of the current standards requirements (CISPR, ANSI and MIL STD) for these instruments, describe the changes in modern instrument design, discuss the technologies behind the advances and highlight the benefits to the EMC test community.
12:15pm - 1:00pm Lunch and closing
