Receiver Minimum Input Level Sensitivity
Receiver minimum input level sensitivity is the minimum specified rf level of a WLAN signal that a WLAN receiver will receive and demodulate while maintaining a certain FER (802.11b) or PER (802.11a) at or below the specification called out in the IEEE standard.

802.11b - The FER shall be less than 0.08 at a PSDU length of 1024 octets for an input level of -76dBm measured at the antenna connector. The FER shall be specified for 11Mbps CCK Modulation.
802.11a - The PER shall be less than 10% at a PSDU length of 1000 bytes for rate-dependent input levels shall be the numbers listed in the table. The minimum input levels are measured at the antenna connector. See table.
The ESG signal generator with signal studio for WLAN creates a fully coded test signal, which enables receiver BER and FER to be performed, which is needed to test the receiver minimum input level sensitivity. The ESG does not perform WLAN BER/FER measurements on its own. You will need to capture the received payload and compare it to the payload data that was transmitted.
