Agilent Technologies to embed TIBCO Software's integration technology into its OSS solutions

TIBCO's award-winning EAI software to enable Agilent OSS products to simplify integration with third-party applications

PALO ALTO, Calif., Sept. 16, 2002

Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced an agreement that will allow Agilent to incorporate TIBCO Software Inc.'s (NASDAQ: TIBX) award-winning Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) technology into Agilent's operations support system (OSS) solutions. TIBCO's EAI interface is the most widely used technology of its kind, and will enable telecommunication service providers to quickly and easily integrate Agilent OSS products with third-party systems for sharing and exchanging information.

"An OSS solution is not truly complete unless it can communicate with the huge variety of third-party applications that perform different tasks both inside and outside of service providers' enterprise," said Randy Custeau, Agilent OSS marketing manager. "Although Agilent OSS products already have multiple application interface points that allow easy integration with network elements and other OSSs, many of our customers and third-party vendors use TIBCO's industry-standard EAI technology as their primary method of communication. We will take maximum advantage of this technology to create the most open, flexible and complete OSS solutions on the market."

"Agilent has acquired its OSS leadership position by anticipating the problems that service providers face as they deploy new technologies and integrate these with each other and legacy systems," said Keith Goldstein, vice president of global alliance at TIBCO Software. "The company's decision to embed TIBCO technology within its OSS portfolio represents exactly the same kind of foresight. Service providers need OSS solutions that meet the most modern communication standards, and our products set those standards within the EAI market."

Agilent OSS solutions will incorporate critical components of TIBCO's ActiveEnterprise, which was awarded "Best Application Integration Solution" by the eAI Journal in 2002. These components include:

TIBCO Rendezvous, an efficient, reliable and scalable messaging system that functions as the foundation of application-to-application integration both inside and outside an enterprise;

TIBCO Hawk, a sophisticated tool for monitoring and managing distributed applications and systems throughout a company; and

TIBCO Adapters, which allow new components to be quickly and easily added to an enterprise system without disturbing existing infrastructure. More information on Agilent OSS is available on the Web.
