5DX Virus Protection Software Policy

Keysight is announcing a new virus protection software warranty and support contract policy for the 5DX product line. Keysight recognizes that customers require data protection for their PC workstations and computer controlled manufacturing equipment such as the 5DX X-ray Test System and associated workstations. With the many viruses that have been introduced recently, Keysight is recommending that the 5DX customer information technology (IT) department procure and install a Keysight-qualified virus protection software package on the 5DX X-ray Test System and associated workstations. With the customer's site IT department being responsible for procuring virus protection software and supporting the latest update definitions, customers are insured of the best possible protection for the 5DX system's data and operating system software.

To provide support for this new strategy, Keysight has qualified the Symantec "Norton Anti Virus Corporate Edition Rev 7.6" virus protection software with the 8.0 5DX software release. Beginning with the 8.0 software release, virus protection software will not be shipped with new releases.

The Keysight 5DX Windows NT 4.0 package includes Service Pack 5 (SP5). The 8.1 release will continue to be supported on Windows NT 4.0 with SP6. Microsoft provides patches that can be downloaded on systems running Window NT 4.0 SP6 that are effective against the latest known viruses. Keysight recommends that for customers who do not already have a Keysight-qualified virus protection strategy, to contact a regional Symantec Office or distributor for additional information on virus protection www.symantec.com. 

Note: Keysight maintains the current 3rd party software package policy. If a 3rd party software package, not qualified by Keysight, is installed on a 5DX system controller and the installation results in a failure of the system controller, the customer will be responsible for "un-installing" the software package and restoring the 5DX product to its normal operating status. In the event Keysight's assistance is required to restore the system to the normal operating status, the customer will be charged Keysight's standard parts and labor rates for the repair.
